Datuk Bandar pilihan rakyat adalah pilihan yang lebih baik
The present Datuk Bandar Kuala Lumpur, Yg Bhg Dato’ Ab Hakim Borhan, will be retiring at the end of this month. There was speculation that Yg Bhg Dato’ Ab Hakim Borhan will be extended for another two years.
My take is Yg Bhg Dato’ Ab Hakim Borhan will not be extended and Datuk Ahmad Fuad Ismail, the former Yang Di Pertua of Subang Jaya Municipal Council in 1997 and the present Director-General of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government will be the new Datuk Bandar KL. I am informed that he is a no-nonsense man.
Whatever the case may be, it is always my stand that the post of Datuk Bandar should be elected by the KL residents. In other big cities, the Mayor is elected by the people.
