Yesterday, 20 September 2008, was the 11th Anniversary of the TiRatana Charity. A dinner, which was graced by more than 1,000 donors, was held at the Desa Water Park to celebrate the occasion. The guests of honour were His Excellency, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka, and his wife. Also present were YB Teresa Kok, MP for Seputeh, YB Loh Gwo Burne, MP for Kelana Jaya, and myself.
TiRatana is the charity arm of The Buddhist Maha Vihara temple of Brickfields which maintains the TiRatana Welfare Centre in Salak South Garden where it houses an orphanage. All donations to the TiRatana Welfare Centre enjoy tax exemption approved by the Department of Inland Revenue.

Semalam, 20 September 2008, satu majlis makan malam telah dianjurkan sempena sambutan ulang tahun ke 11 tabung kebajikan TiRatana di Desa Water Park. Majlis itu turut dihadiri oleh lebih 1000 penderma bersama-sama dengan tetamu kehormat, Duta Besar Sri Lanka dan isteri. Turut serta dalam majlis tersebut ialah MP Seputeh, YB Teresa Kok, MP Kelana Jaya, YB Loh Gwo Burne dan saya sendiri.
TiRatana adalah badan kebajikan di bawah kelolaan Kuil Buddha Maha Viraha, Brickfields yang menguruskan Pusat Kebajikan TiRatana untuk anak-anak yatim di Taman Salak Selatan. Semua sumbangan kepada Pusat Kebajikan TiRatana mendapat pengecualian cukai dari Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri.
